The summit delivers accurate\, age-appropriate information related to substance use\, mental health\, and healthy decision-making while centering youth voice\, leadership\, and creativity. \nThe event is content-aligned with National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week\, but intentionally scheduled outside the official campaign week to avoid conflicts with local school ∙district spring breaks. SUMMARY:Summer Social Justice Camp - Chittenden County
DESCRIPTION:Join the Education Justice Coalition of Vermont for a day camp focused on social justice that’s facilitated by youth for youth! \nApply by May 13th. \nWho: for middle and high school students in Chittenden County \nWhen: July 20-24 11am-3pm \nWhere: Outright Vermont (241 N. Winooski Ave.) in Burlington \nWhat: Participants will choose topics of what they’d like to learn about and discuss. Spend each day on a different topic. Examples of previous topics neurodiversity awareness and acceptance\, current global events and genocide\, and policing and legal systems. Attendees of the camp not only learn and discuss these issues; they also build skills to bring about change. Play games\, make art\, share food\, learn about each other through storytelling\, and have fun! \nWhy: To provide a space for youth to learn and identify ways they want to make their school and community better. \nAccessibility: We’ll do our best to help with transportation. We’ll ask about accessibility needs in the application. \n*The camp is free to attend. Participants will receive a small stipend for each day they attend the camp. \nQuestions?
